A COVE ON LUŠTICA

Clear sea sheltered by olives.

Žanjice is one of the loveliest beaches on the Montenegrin coast: a pebble cove about 300 metres long, facing the open sea, sheltered by a hill and a centuries-old olive grove behind it. The water is clear and calm, and the beach lies on the Luštica peninsula, in the municipality of Herceg Novi, right by the entrance to the Bay of Kotor.

Thanks to its sheltered position, the sea at Žanjice stays calm even when the wind blows elsewhere. There are sunbeds and umbrellas, a few taverns and restaurants right along the shore, and the place where boats set out for the Blue Cave. We are here, on the beach: the Porto Adriatic restaurant and the Marović family apartments.

HOW TO GET THERE

By car or by boat.

There are two ways to reach Žanjice, and both are part of the experience. By boat from Herceg Novi is the fastest: in season, taxi-boats run regularly straight to the cove. By car you drive across the Luštica peninsula, with the last stretch a narrow coastal road that descends to the beach; in peak season the parking by the shore can fill up, so it pays to set off early.

  • By boat from Herceg Novi: the fastest, a taxi-boat in season straight to the beach
  • By car across Luštica: from the direction of Tivat and Krašići, by a narrow road to the cove
  • Parking by the beach is limited in peak season, come early
  • For apartment guests we arrange arrival and excursions in advance

NEARBY

The Blue Cave and nearby coves.

Žanjice is only the beginning. From the same cove you set out for the best-known spots at the entrance to Boka, and the neighbouring beaches and villages share the same clear water and the same calm. For many it is the surroundings that are the reason to stay longer than a single day.
